ROOF REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT FOR ZURICH INSURANCE OFFICE BUILDINGS
Knickerbocker Roofing & Paving Co. Inc. recently completed a significant project which showcased our company’s versatility, ingenuity, and safety-driven production capabilities.
The client, Zurich, is a major participant in the construction casualty insurance industry. The buildings, The Zurich Towers in Schaumburg, Illinois, are twin 20 story office towers complete with glass curtain walls on all exterior elevations. The specified scope of work included removal of the existing ballasted single-ply roof system and installation of a new multi-ply, fully adhered, modified bitumen roof system including tapered insulation installed on multiple roof levels. All work had to minimally inconvenience the buildings tenants while being cost-effective for the property owner. The professional estimating team at Knickerbocker Roofing drafted a detailed proposal which met these requirements and Knickerbocker was awarded the work.
We removed the existing river rock ballast via a commercial vacuum truck equipped with over 300 lineal feet of heavy duty hose which allowed us access to all roof levels. We assembled our hydraulic beam and guide wire system along the building exterior from roof top to grade. This approach allowed us to safely perform all material handling required on the project without utilizing the building interior. Building personnel were, on the whole, unaware of the new roof activity. This 58,800 square foot capital improvement to the Zurich Towers was completed on time, and on budget.
