Here are some real-world examples of projects we’ve completed for commercial clients:
Richard T. Crane Technical High School
We successfully removed the existing roof of this Chicago high school and replaced it with a new Firestone Ultra White modified bitumen roof that was up to code. We installed the new roof system at 15 roof levels, covering 110,000 sq. ft., while working closely alongside the masonry team that was simultaneously performing extensive restoration on the building.
The Rookery Building
Tasked with re-roofing the landmark Rookery Building in Chicago, we had to implement our expertise and problem-solving skills to successfully complete the project. This Chicago landmark featured changing roof pitches, including a low-slope roof in the center of the building, a skylight, and a 5/12 slope roof around the perimeter with expansive ducting. We fabricated and installed custom fabricated sheet metal flashings, and – working against strict municipal restrictions for debris removal, material delivery, and noise-producing work – were ultimately able to replace the historic building’s 20,200 sq. ft. roof.
THE HYATT MCCORMICK HOTEL CHICAGO
For this luxury hotel, we installed 30,000 sq. ft. of a Carlisle Syntec fully adhered Brite Ply roof system, overcoming obstacles such as heights as high as 344 feet and strong winds off Lake Michigan. Throughout the project, we coordinated with other trades people who were simultaneously working on the building, and completed the project within a very tight deadline.
HISTORIC MONROE BUILDING
Hired to replace the existing clay tile roof and gutter system on the historic building, we took this challenging project head-on. We installed a vertical and horizontal batten system toggled to the clay block structural deck, as well as felt and self-adhered bitumen membranes. The extensive gutter system required on-site fabrication of specialty components and intricate soldering. Adaptable to any changes and all requirements made, we were able to finish the roof with outstanding results. The Landmark Illinois association gave the Monroe Building the “Renovation of the Year” award after the project was finished.
